John Lennon Airport is growing fast. From it's official opening
ceremony on 1st July 1933 Liverpool John Lennon airport handled
1.3 millions passengers in 1999 and nearly 2 million passengers
in 2000. It's recent rate of growth makes it one of Europe's
fastest growing airports.
The airport is set to grow even faster with the planned opening
of a second terminal in Spring 2002. The new terminal will treble
the size of the existing terminal, allowing a growth of up to
3 million passengers. The stylish new terminal will have a futuristic
full glass frontage and will boast 36 check-in desks, an extra
13 departure gates and 7000 square meters of retail and catering
space.
Liverpool
John Lennon Airport currently offers daily scheduled flights
to 11 European and domestic destinations. Holiday charter flights
serve 15 Mediterranean destinations. A number of major tour
companies are committed to Liverpool Johnn Lennon Airport. These
include Ryan Air, easyJet, Thomson, Airtours and JMC.
Transport
direct to the center of Liverpool is provided by the Airlink
bus service, which departs every 30 minutes. The bus stops at
Lime Street railway station, the National Express coach station
and Liverpool city center, before returning to the airport.
