Detroit Metropolitan Airport, DTW

Detroit Metro Airport made aviation history on December 11, 2001, when it became the only major airport in the country in 2001 or 2002 to open a new jet runway. With six runways - four of them parallel - Metro Airport ranks among the top airports in the world. This means less congestion, more convenience, and efficient, smoothly flowing air traffic for the millions of passengers who use the airport every year.

Opened in conjunction with the McNamara Terminal in February, 2002, was Metro Airport's second main entrance road - called John Dingell Drive. This four-mile-long, six-lane-wide roadway provides access to the airport from I-275, and connects to Detroit Metro's existing entry point at I-94 and Merriman Road.
The new road will ease traffic congestion on I-94, and offer travelers a convenient new way of reaching Detroit Metro Airport.
