Kansas City International Airport, MCI

Originally developed in the early 1950's as a reliever airport for Kansas City's Municipal Airport and home for TWA's Overhaul Base, the present airport site covers an area of approximately 10,000 acres. This ranks KCI as one of the largest airports in the nation in available acreage. The current acreage is not static by any means. 

Designed for the convenience of air travelers, KCI is refreshing in its lack of congestion and easy accessibility. Present terminal buildings have a design capacity of 12 million annual passengers. The new millennium will bring many changes to Kansas City International Airport (KCI) as the Terminal Improvement Project is underway to upgrade the facility's mechanical and electrical systems and give the terminals a more modern, sleeker look.

Three runways can accommodate up to 139 aircraft operations per hour. Accessibility from two major highways can easily accommodate 2,700 vehicles per hour.
